Frequently Asked Questions
Before you hire a contractor, these are a few questions to ask:
Q: Is the company's State of Florida License number written on their business cards/contract/proposals/advertising?
A: Our license is written on our proposals, contracts, business cards and advertising, including on our company owned vehicles. State License # CPC 044-954
Q: Are they working under their own License or using someone else's?
A: We have our own certified Pool/Spa Contractor License. Check at www.myfloridalicense.com
Q: What insurances do they carry?
A: Pool Popping is NOT covered under your Homeowner's Insurance policy. This additional insurance (at least $1,000,000.) must be carried by the contractor with whom you sign the contract; not under another company's name. WE DO! Ask to see proof.
Q: Do they apply a bonding agent/scratch coat prior to applying the final surface?
A: This should be in writing on your estimate/contract. Without a bond coat the new surface will come up (delaminate). We do! Does the warranty cover delamination? Ours does! Some don't.
Q: Do they have their own employees? Or do they "sub everything out"?
A: All of our employees are in house.
Q: Do they shoot from a Pump Truck or use a Wheelbarrow Truck?
A: Both! We own multiple Pump Trucks that mix material and transfer it straight into your pool with the use of long hoses. We also use "Wheelbarrow Trucks" when needed in order to ensure we have equipment to get the job done in areas where our pump trucks may not be able to pump through hoses to the pool.
Q: Do they bring their own materials?
A: We do. If materials are delivered by another company and they have not been paid, you can receive a Lien for the cost.
Q: Do they have a physical business office and assets owned by the company or do they work strictly out of their home with no company assets?
A: Our office is located in Sanford, Florida as well as our equipment and trucks. Come by anytime!
Q: How long have they been in business under the current ownership?
A: Kevin & Kim Liljenquist have always been the owners since 1989.Recently, Kevin has retired and now Kim is the sole owner of White Sands Pool Plastering. Licensed Pebble Applicator since 1989! Check at www.sunbiz.org.
THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR
Beware of companies that offer to "match any other prices". Reputable companies are around for the "long haul" and have nothing to hide. Unfortunately, there are people who are Licensed by the State, but go bankrupt under one name then re-open under another name and still use the same License number. There are also people who lend their license to others. Check and see if everything you are being told matches: Who owns the License (individual's name and Doing Business As), physical address, how long they have been in business and the Better Business Bureau.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE LET SOMEONE PRESSURE YOU INTO SIGNING!
Our sales representatives are kind, courteous and understanding. We never pressure our customers into signing a contract they are uncomfortable with or unsure with. If you are being pressured into signing a contract, DO NOT SIGN IT!

- ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE
Q: How much does it cost to have someone come out to my house and give me an estimate to have my pool refinished?
A: There is no charge for an estimate. You simply call the office at 407-699-6811 and ask for a representative to contact you or click the "Contact Us" link at the top of the web page to enter in your information. Our office will relay your message to a sales representative to contact you.
Q: How long does it take to have my pool re-plastered?
A: While we try to start and finish your pool as quickly as possible, different times of the year can be busier than others, but normally pool renovations take around 10-14 days. However it can take longer if we have to remove fiberglass or paint or have extensive work to do on the plumbing and equipment. A representative can give you a better estimate of the time frame required once your pool needs are determined, or you can call our office to ask about a time frame if you are unsure.
Q: How satisfied will I be when White Sands Pool Plastering, Inc. re-finishes my Pool?
A: 100% and Smiling!
